Artist Statement

My artistic expression draws from two central sources: the ancient oriental wisdom and aesthetics that imbued my upbringing on a small Chinese island Amoy, juxtaposed against the postmodern bustle of New York City life. These two almost opposing influences had me captivated by the allure of paradox.

As a recent graduate from NYU Tisch's Interactive Media Arts, I leverage creative technologies to explore the nuances of paradox. My passion lies in computer-integrated post-imaging, where I engage with my liminal identity and metaphysical musings through 3D visuals in a nonlinear narrative.

The biggest paradox in this age of the Anthropocene, to me, lies within humanity itself. I am convinced that the preexisting definition of human is slowly disintegrating as we transform into something else. I would take on the identity of a cyborg if I could. Mentally, I already am one:)

*On “oriental”: I just can’t resist using this word despite all the connotations it entails. It simply sounds way better than Eastern. Let me reclaim that linguistic agency!
